From: "Michael Hasting" Date: September 4, 2006 3:17:19 PM MDT All, This is the first drilling report for Mount Saint Helens Drilling. The people on the email will be the main ones to get the reports. If there is anyone who needs to be added please let me know, or forward these reports to them. Today I move the trailer with strainmeters, seismometer, batteries, enclosure, tools and such to the Windy Ridge site, B202. Tomorrow the drillers will start mobilizing from Forest Grove Oregon to the site. If all goes well we should be drilling by Wednesday afternoon, if not sooner. Tomorrow I will start picking up other supplies and tools needed to complete the installation, i.e. cement, grout, water tanks and such. I plan on driving the USGS Smeal up to the site starting on the 18th. Assuming the drilling goes well we should be installing on or about the 22nd. More to come. Cheers, Mike Date: 9/6/2006 Site: Windy Ridge B202 Present depth: 160' Lithology: Basalt, Andasite? 0820 DOS moving on to site and rigging up 0915 Eric Hansen, TP&D, arrives with casing and other supplies. 0945 Eric and Mike head off to get water 1120 Start drilling 10” hole 1145 Eric and Mike return with water 1230 Hit bedrock at 42ft, set 8” surface casing 1300 Switching over to 8” bit 1315 Start drilling 8” open hole 1730 160ft, shutting down rig 1745 DOS _______________________________________________ strain-int mailing list strain-int@pbo.unavco.org http://pbo.unavco.org/mailman/listinfo/strain-int Tomorrow Plan, drill to 200ft and take inclination of hole, then continue drilling to 400ft and start setting casing.
