The flat tire on one of their tires was replaced in King City that morning. Take a pickup up to ground test the maps and directions before the trucks go up the road. One of the rigs is too tall for one of the gates- went back to the ranch office and found a detour around the fence. 1145 Drillers on site, setting up and site prep 1520-1630, meet with one of the ranch hands to fill the water truck with water 1800 Drillers have stood up the rig, are setting up the 11 3/4" surface casing and bit system and fixing a minor forklift problem 1830 Night crew comes on. Set up light system. 1940 Safety meeting 2000 @0' Start setting surface casing 2215 @40' Used all the 11 3/4" casing on site. Waiting on another truck to bring in 9 5/8" (?) system to set 9 5/8" casing while advancing through overburden. 2230 I go off site. Matt the night shift driller drives down the road to meet the new truck. _______________________________________________ strain-int mailing list strain-int@pbo.unavco.org http://pbo.unavco.org/mailman/listinfo/strain-int From: Sarah Venator Date: June 3, 2007 1:10:23 AM MDT To: Sarah Venator Cc: strain-int@pbo.unavco.org Subject: [Strain-int][Gold Hill 2 B0?] Drill report 6/2/2007 Date: 6/2/07 Site: Gold Hill 2, N 35.83109, W 120.34506 Lithology: Granitic Present depth: 190' Night shift had gotten to 140' when the day crew arrived. 11 3/4" surface casing was left at 40'. Well making <1/8 gpm, as timed with bucket test, but drillers reported the hole filled with water if it wasn't being pumped out by the compressed air. 1330 Water run 1500 Water truck returns, drilling resumes 1630 @190' The 190' sample was comprised of some larger, subangular to subrounded cuttings that seemed to have been rounded off beforehand, not broken up during drilling- perhaps a faulted or fractured zone or zone where water flowed. No clay was caught in the sample. Drillers discover that either some of the casing or the shoe has broken off- they have been still drilling while advancing the 9 5/8" casing. They start trying to figure out how to pull the casing out and fix the problem. 1830 Still trying to figure out how to remove the casing. About 10-12' of the casing is still above ground. They stand rig down, pull it forward, and use a forklift and the rig's lines to try to get a casing jack over the casing. 2130 The casing jack is over the casing, but casing still in the ground. _______________________________________________ strain-int mailing list strain-int@pbo.unavco.org http://pbo.unavco.org/mailman/listinfo/strain-int From: Sarah Venator Date: June 4, 2007 1:38:47 AM MDT To: Sarah Venator Cc: strain-int@pbo.unavco.org Subject: [Strain-int][Gold Hill 2 B0?] Drill report 6/3/2007 Date: 6/3/07 Site: Gold Hill 2, N 35.83109, W 120.34506 Lithology: Granitic Present depth: 190' am: Drillers still trying to remove casing from the ground. pm: 1440 Casing @110' below surface was broken just above the threads. While measuring the bottom, the measuring tape breaks in half and the bottom of it (with metal rod) is lost. Drillers make a magnetic fishing tool. 1840 The tape measure rods has been retrieved. The rig has a small hydraulic leak from the stress of pulling out the casing and needs some work. 1910 Rig is up again; drillers prepare to trip back in.
