Date: 9/27/2006 Site: B204 Marble Mt Quarry Present depth: 460' Lithology: rhyolite? Morning: No UNAVCO representative on site; at Windy Ridge for second strainmeter install attempt. Drillers reported gradual increase of water from fractures in andesite throughout the morning. 220'- small fractures- H2O increases to ~1gal/min 230'- H2O increases to 4-5 gal/min 320'- H2O at 40 gal/min 360'- H2O at 60 gal/min 398'- H2O increases to 100 gal/min. Rock changes to v. pale gray to white fine-grained cuttings. Rhyolite? Afternoon: representative on site 1400 @420' Rock still pale, hard 1820 @460' White formation is still hard, consistent, doesn't seem to be adding water to formation. Call casing depth. Drillers flush hole and trip out. 1900 Tripped out, run inclinometer Inclination: 89.4 degrees @460'; 89.3 degrees @455'; 89.1 degrees @450'; 89.7 degrees @440'. Very straight! Plan for 9/28: Drillers may not have casing available; set casing if casing is available, do rig maintenance if casing is not available. _______________________________________________ strain-int mailing list strain-int@pbo.unavco.org http://pbo.unavco.org/mailman/listinfo/strain-int Date: 10/3/06 Site: B204 Marble Mt Quarry Lithology: Andesite-rhyolite? Cuttings are too fine for sample-taking screen, being caught in a bucket to settle out. 1530 ~755' Cuttings change from gray to nearly white again. White rock softer, drilling quicker than darker rock previously. 1710 @797' Target depth; flush hole. 1845 Drillers off site 88.7 degrees at 795' (just above bottom,) 88.8 degrees at 790', 88.5 degrees at 780', 89.7 degrees at surface.
